Its BECCA's 10th Birthday and you get the presents!

Thu, 12/15/2011 - 2:18PM by alysemae 0 Comments -

As soon as I saw images on Makeup4all for BECCA's 10th Anniversary collection I knew I was done in. I love palettes and I love BECCA's cream products. Turkish Rose happens to be a favorite of mine. I received both palettes in the mail this week. I'll tell you a little secret, If you buy something from BECCA on-line in December you will receive a coupon for an amazing discount in January (along with some yummy BECCA lollies that taste like Passion fruit).

There is also a slight change to the packaging, the metal cap on the palette is polished to a reflective shine unlike the brushed aluminum of past palettes. Say Hi to Tux my wee dog in the background. He thought these smelt so good he would eat them, not today buddy.

This is the Vintage Jewel Pallette which is intended for deeper skin tones. Starting at the to left going clockwise we have Crème Blush in Hyacinth, Lip Gloss in Cosmopolitan, Crème Highlighter in Beechnut and Lip & Cheek Crème in Snapdragon. These were a bit sweaty due to the humidity that day, but work great just the same.

To confuse you I swatched them in a different order.  Lip Gloss in Cosmopolitan,Crème Blush in Hyacinth, Lip & Cheek Crème in Snapdragon and Crème Highlighter in Beechnut.

I have to say I love Snapdragon, a cor-ally/apricot with gold shimmer it seems like a brighter version of Byzantine. the gloss is a lovely deep plumy/red with shimmer and has a smooth, slightly tacky texture. Beechnut is far too dark for me at the moment but after a spray tan with will work well as a shimmery bronzer and maybe an eyeshadow?.

Once more for the love of pretty colours.

Dusty rose is a palette that will work for me perfectly when I'm at my palest.

Working from the top left going clockwise we have Crème Blush Turkish Rose, Lip & Cheek Crème Tuberose, Crème Highlighter Narcissus and Lip Gloss Cassini. Turkish rose is my favorite blush - full stop.

When I am pale, I am scary see through pale. I need colour in my face but if its to bright I look silly. Turkish rose provides the perfect subdued blush for me and when applied in conjunction with Narcissus on cheek bones you get an ethereal glow and BECCA knows how to glow like a lady. Not like some crazy clubber. Cassini is like a pinker sister of Turkish rose (it is my secret dream that BECCA make turkish rose into a Sheer tint lip colour) and looks really pretty and understated on lips. Tuberose is perfect for days when I want a little brighter colour on my cheeks or lips and as usual comes in the fantastic Lip and Cheek cream formula.

This palette is a combonation of genuis to give you the perfect no make up makeup, polished, glowing and flawless.

These are both being packed into my bags for my trip to New zealand, I think they will the ultimate travel palettes for lips and cheeks and I feel like I should get back ups?

Yes BECCA you have done it again, your superior colour and texture chioces have won me over once more.

What do you think of BECCA's 10th Aniversay Platettes? Which is your pick or favorite?

Get that BECCA Glow

Wed, 11/23/2011 - 7:32AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

I'm a big fan of BECCA makeup, It gives your skin a glow that is just perfect. Below is what I wear most days as my base and I change up my blush and eye colours. I'm tanned(faux tan) at the moment so I have been wearing BECCA luminous skin Colour in Camel with Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. For contouring I used BECCA Mineral Duo Bronzer and for colour I used BECCA Lip & Cheek Cream in Petal and I used YSL Touche eclat in 2 under my eyes.

Don't want to sound vain, but when I wear this Combination my skin looks perfect, glowing and amazing.

I start by applying Camel Luminous skin Colour blending from the center of my face out and down until its undetectable.

I apply Touche Eclat to the inner and outer corner below my eye and pat with my ring finger until blended.

I then apply Jane Iredale powder in Radiant for added Spf and to reduce shine in the center of my face.

I then use BECCA Mineral Duo bronzer below my cheek bone, along my jaw, down the center of my nose and on my temples.

I then Apply a small amount of BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector to the back of my hand and dab and blend slightly so I don't have too much on my ring finger. I then lightly pat in a C shape on top of my cheek bone and around to above my eyebrow, I make sure this is well blended and there are no lines. I also apply it to the inner corner of my eye and the center of my nose.

With the Lip and Cheek Cream I always pat the product on the back of my had before applying it to my face. Its extremely pigmented and you only need a small amount, once patted on the back of my hand I use my ring finger to gently pat onto the apple of my cheek moving in a circular motion.

From left to right: BECCA Lip and Cheek Cream Petal, BECCA Mineral Bronzer Duo the first swatch is the highlighter the second is the Bronzer, YSL Touche Eclat 2, BECCA Shimmering skin Perfector in opal blended and unblended, BECCA Luminous Skin Colour Camel.

Top to bottom: BECCA Mineral Bronzer Duo swatched as Highlighter and the Bronzer, BECCA Lip and Cheek Cream in Petal.

Top to bottom: BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal unblended and blended.

I Hope you can see how easy it is to achieve perfect glowing skin with BECCA, I use this combination every day and love it.

Have you got a perfect combo for glowing skin? Have you ever used BECCA before?

P.s I'm wearing BECCA GlossyLip Tint in Rosita on my lips and Dior Rosy Tan on eyes.

Gold Plated Nails with Lippmann - Here Comes with Queen

Tue, 11/22/2011 - 12:53PM by alysemae 0 Comments -

I just got my Juicy Couture and Deborah Lippmann set of polishes in the mail last night, I'm so happy I bought them. Each one is so beautiful. Here's a little peek at Here Comes the Queen over Essie Steel-ing the Scene. My nails look like the are plated in gold amour.

My pictures don't do it justice.

The gold flakes are floating in a semi tinted base and warmed up the neutral to cool tones of the platinum coloured Steel-ing the scene. I love it.

one more for fun.

Grab this set while you can, all three shade are amazing. I'll put up photos of the rest soon.

Lately I have been obsessed with gold, I have just bought two of the Armani Holiday Eyes to Kill and the Madre Perla face and eye palette too. Needless to say The Beauty Look Book is heavily influencing my purchases. Sabrina has the most amazing pictures.

Are you feeling gold tones? I  think they are nice change from green and red for Holiday colours.

Nars Dogon - A Quick Smoky Eye

Tue, 11/22/2011 - 9:18AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

Last week I did a quick smoky eye with Nars Dogon Duo eyeshadow that I really liked. I only bought Dogon a month or two ago, its quick and easy for a no fuss smoky eye. I paired it with Burberry Trench eyeshadow, which I pretty much use daily (still the best flesh shade I have come across) and Laura Mercier Black Turquoise Eye pencil.

Left to Right: Burberry Trench, the Taupe from Dogon, the Charcoal from Dogon, Laura Mercier Black Turquoise and Dogon layered from dark to light.

I tried to capture the green blue sheen that runs through Black Turquoise and the mixed Dogon shade.

Sorry, not a great photo but you can see the green colour come out in the light. I used the taupe to above my crease and the Charcoal on the outer corner with Trench below my brow and Black Turquoise as a liner on my upper lash line and lower lash line. Just so you know I'm wearing OCC lip tar in Grandma with Nyx Lip liner in coral on my lips which is a lot brighter in real life.

Moody Blues with Nubar's Jeans Collection

Mon, 11/21/2011 - 8:56AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

when I saw the Nubar Jeans collection on Cafe Makeup I knew I had to have all three polishes. I love blue, especially Sapphire and deep blues.

Below is Nubar Boyfriend jeans which is the medium blue in the collection. The formula on the two polishes I'll show you today were great, two coats for both and really easy to work with.

When I wore these polishes I got alot of compliments. Held up next to the sky you can see that its similar to the darkest part on a sunny day.

My favorite was easily the dark wash jeans colour. Its dark and moody but not black and quite unique to anything else I own, Although I  noticed similarities between Essie's Bobbing for Baubles but that's a bit dustier.

It really is a great colour, I personally don't care that they copied Chanel. They have made a beautiful colour avalible to the masses.

Gah, I had run out of my normal top coat and had to use seche vite, that is why there is so much shrinkage. But you can see how its similar to the dark jewel blue in my leopard print skirt. Yup I really love this colour. I have the pale blue which is Faded Jeans but I havent worn it yet, maybe when the weather gets a little warmer.

Hot Pink Glow - Opi Meep Meep Meep

Sun, 11/20/2011 - 9:51AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

I only ordered a few of the Opi Muppet's collections, the glitters didn't inspire me but Opi Meep Meep Meep did. Its a hot Fuchsia that glows! its so beautiful when I wore it I was in danger of crashing my car, Its hard to ignore it when the sun hits it right.

I struggled to catch all the glow so of course I took a lot of photos.

And once more.

I wore it with a hot pink lip. Below I'm wearing Nyx Addis Ababa, its a fluffy matte cream lipstick that comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator.

I used it over a lip balm so its not quite as in your face bright and totally matte. I thought I would compare it to another bright pink for you so you can see the how much purple it has in it . Below is Chanel Rouge Allure Imagination and Nyx Addis Ababa
.

I hope you enjoyed these colours as much as I did.

Did you grab any of the Muppet's collection, if so which ones?

China Glaze - Ring in the Red

Sun, 11/20/2011 - 8:38AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

Here's a lovely, festive red glitter from the China Glaze holiday 2011 collection. Ring in the Red is a red jelly packed with fine red glitter and small red hex glitter. It absolutely glows in the sun and is crazy sparkly. Removal is a pain, but that's expected.

I couldn't capture the glow or sparkle with my camera but believe me its there.

If you like red glitters you should defiantly try this out. I buy my China Glaze polishes from ebay at around $3.00 USD.

Orange - matching lips and tips

Mon, 10/10/2011 - 8:13AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

I love google searching just colours followed by there use e.g. Orange lips.

I get a lot of beauty inspiration doing this. Orange has been on my mind a lot lately, orange and coral are two of my favorite colours. I have seen orange lips every where lately and I really wanted to try the trend out, so I went and got Revlon's Siren in polish and lipstick as well as Nyx's Orange lip liner to give it a go.

It turned out a little more Orange red, but I'm fine with that. I quite liked how it looked on me and actually didn't get dry flaky lips from this combo.

and here's what I wore it with, a combination of colours from the Dior Iridescent Leather quint reviewed here. on my cheeks I'm wearing BECCA Mineral duo bronzer reviewed here.

How do you feel about orange?

On another note I just finished the Hunger games trilogy and I cannot stop thinking about it, I could barley sleep after I finished it last night. Have you read the trilogy? How did you feel when you finished it?They have to be some of the best books I have ever read. I read alot.

Orly Rage - A Rose gold dream

Sun, 10/09/2011 - 10:51AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

I recently made an order of Orlys website for some of the Birds of a feather collection and decided to get this polish too. I'm so glad I did its a beautiful rose gold foil that sparkles like mad in the sun.

I loved this colour so much I wore it for about 5 days and the wear was very minimal, my nails looked almost the same as the day I painted them. The formula was really easy to work with as well.

Here you can see how it shimmers in the sun.

So pretty.

Are you a fan of foils?

What do you think of Rose Gold?

Deborah Lippmann has released a metallic Rose gold for the holidays its very different finish but similar colour.

Dior Iridescent Leather - The perfect travel palette

Sun, 10/09/2011 - 10:11AM by alysemae 0 Comments -

I have seen images of this famous palette around the web and always wished I had bought it when it was available. The other day I was on Strawberry net and jumped I was not going to miss out this time.

I have had this for a week and have been using it everyday. This is my perfect palette, Browns are my favorite colours and these are just the best browns I have ever seen. I do have to use Burberry Trench on my brow so its not to crazy and shimmery. The texture of this palette is fantastic, this is actually my first Dior quint, but I already have my eyes on the Holiday 2011 quints.

I swatched from the top left corner clockwise finishing with the center colour. These are just such pretty colours that really glow in sunlight. I have used this palette differently each day. If I were not a crazy makeup lady I could probably just use this for the rest of my days and be happy.

I took alot of pictures to show how pretty the colours are.

If you can buy this palette, do it. Its worth it. This baby is definitely coming with me to New Zealand when I go home for Christmas,  can imagine so many easy summer looks with these beautiful bronze, taupe, pink and gold shades.
